Artists are good listeners. When you draw something, you can listen to it in a deeper way. Can’t draw? Well don’t give up! This retreat is designed to share a few techniques that will help you loosen up and discover how fun drawing can be – even if you are convinced that you can’t do it! Imagine adding quick sketches into your journal or scribbling images on paper to remember them for years . . . and liking them! This is a breakthrough class for many people who feel they aren’t creative. Drawing helps us to see the world differently and preserve moments in time. And yes, YOU CAN DRAW! We promise we will make it fun and easy!
Using techniques from the ARTstarters book, we will expore the Mindset of Listening through Drawing and pLaY with the following techniques:
Scribble Drawings
Gesture Drawings
Contour Drawings
Blind Self-Portraits
And finishing touches that make even rough sketches look cool!
We’ll end with a fun SketchCrawl around Downtown Santa Ana to practice all your new drawing skills and start filling your journal before you even leave!
Participants will leave with their own journal filled with examples and sketches, as well as a monthly calendar to continue the Creative Mindset of Drawing and Listening.
