Gravestone Rubbings & Wabi-Sabi Retreat, $79
Wabi-Sabi refers to the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection. It’s an eye for the simple yet poetic things in life, almost a philosophy of being. What the rest of the world might see as less than perfect , to an artist can be fascinating and beautiful!
Bring: Your Camera (optional) and a picnic snack
Wear: comfortable shoes and clothing (prepare to walk off the path!)
Transportation: we will start at the Santora and then drive to the town cemetery
All other supplies provided
We will start with some fun exploration around the Santora building as we practice Wabi-Sabi with our artist eyes, taking pictures and rubbings. We will then compile them into a Japanese bound book and add thoughts that encourage us to look at life differently.
Then we will continue our tour over to the Santa Ana Cemetery, which is part of Fairhaven Memorial Park, to collect some historical rubbings and end with a picnic share. Participants can leave from there, or carpool back to The ARTbar.
